This year’s conference will be held in Cincinnati, OH. Cincinnati is a beautiful, bustling city with mid-western charm, and a revitalized downtown and waterfront area. It is known for its entrepreneurial and artistic talent — not to mention its chili and ice cream! And…’s located in Ohio, home state of SMART Recovery’s Central Office.

Whether you’re a volunteer, a meeting participant, a clinician, or a friend of SMART Recovery, the Annual Conference is your chance to fully experience the energizing and inspiring annual gathering of this international community of people working to help others create positive change in their lives.


 Friday Afternoon

SMART Recovery Annual ConferenceJoin us for the optional tour of the Ohio River’s waterfronts on Friday afternoon! The bus will depart from the hotel at 2:00 PM on Friday for a narrated tour aboard a historic WWII-style amphibious “Duck!”

This is a wonderful way to enjoy the company of other conference goers in a casual setting, while taking in the sights of the historic waterfronts of Newport, Covington and Cincinnati!  More riverfront tour information…

Friday Evening

SMART Recovery Annual ConferenceFriday evening we will meet for a casual dinner at the hotel, always a great opportunity for catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.  Dinner will be  followed by a screening of the new documentary “The Business of Recovery.” The film’s producer will be on hand for a Q&A session after the screening.

Enjoy coffee and networking with others over a continental breakfast.

Saturday’s topic presentations will begin at 9am.  A complete agenda is available on our website.  Presentation topics  will include Mindfulness, SMART’s international and domestic development, an update of the website upgrade project, Addiction Treatment Models, “Disputing Your Bs, Not your Ts” with Hank Robb, Ph.D.….and more.  Lunch is provided.

The day’s events will conclude with a group dinner and the presentation of the annual Joe Gerstein Award.


Start your day with a continental breakfast with other conference goers.

Sunday morning’s speakers will include Jonathan von Breton, CCMHC, “David O. Saenz, Ph.D., and Tom Horvath, Ph.D. A discussion panel of “master facilitators” will round out the event.
